eBooks vs. Print Books

Woah. Did y'all see this story at the Huff Post: E-books vs. Traditional Books? The original story was in The New York Times: Math of Publishing Meets the E-Book. The graphic they used kind of says it all!
Note: I'm not including the graphic because I don't have copyright permission. But I'm wondering how the Huff Post does that? Yes they give credit, but as far as I know, that's not okay. Anybody know how they're getting away with that?

  1. I'd be interested in knowing how the overhead costs differ because that would make a big difference, wouldn't it?

  2. It would. Nicki Leone commented over on my facebook page:
"Infographics" like that are misleading because they don't show the "expense" side of the equation--the costs of inventory, retail space, personel, etc. That wasn't a graph of "profit," it was a graph of "revenue." And isn't it just sad that editorial is the smallest part of that pie? God knows it's the most missed."

    She makes a good point!
