One of the wonderful things about teaching at Hollins is the rich knowledge the our varied faculty brings to share - including songs. Every few years (mostly when
Ellen Kushner is here) we gather to sing ballads, folk-tunes, gospels, protest songs, and Broadway musicals, in what I recognized as a right and proper
Scottish Cèlidh (pronounced kay-lee). Ellen is a treasure trove of ancient ballads.
Tony Neuron is a treat as well with his deep baritone and knowledge of folk-songs that he sings with his great, booming voice. What a treat!
Students found out about our singing group and asked us to sing a song at the graduation ceremony. We've chosen the perfect song, but I can't share what it is yet - it's a secret!
