Saving Vultures!

We have a good relationship with the American Black Vultures that live around our Hollins campus. In the mornings, they like to sit on the chapel's cross and spread their wings wide to dry in the sunlight. It can be an ominous sight.
So when an injured vulture was recently spotted on the Hollins campus, folks called animal control to come out and safely catch it with a net. It looked MUCH bigger while trying to evade capture, but appeared closer to the size of a large chicken once it was captured.
The animal control folks said that vultures are actually quite calm, especially in dark spaces; so, HU peeps put it in a box and took it to the wildlife center. If I get news about how it's doing, I'll let you know!
