The Artists

Every child believes themselves to be an artist - until they compare their work to others' or are told differently.
I love the joy the first artist gets from his creation... until he compares it to somebody else's work. There's a strong message there. Create for the way it makes you feel - not for how it fares in the world.

This is wonderful! Thanks for sharing. I can't wait to show it to my daughter, the young artist!

My 6yo daughter loves art - she especially loves cutting and taping and making all sorts of creation. So my heart fell a bit the other day when she described another girl in the class as drawing "SO well." So far it doesn't seem to have inhibited her drive to create and I hope it never does. It really seems to be so sustaining for her.

Fabulous! I'm bookmarking so I can share with my daughter, who is much too hard on herself and her art. Wonder where she gets that from????

Wouldn't it be nice if we could all maintain that initial joy of creation throughout our lives?
