Chateau Morrisette Winery
As a break from Hollins while our hubbies were in town for the 4th of July holiday, a group of us drove an hour up the Blue Ridge Parkway to Chateau Morrisette Winery.
It's a lovely establishment that has been making wine in the Appalachians for quite a while now. Each Sunday they offer an enormous buffet and live music, along with wine tastings which we enjoyed immensely. The Chardonnay was my favorite.
We also got a brief tour of the barrels...From the left is my hubbie Stan, Ashley, Brian Attebery, Me, Sabin (Ashley's hubbie), Lisa Fraustino and her hubbie Jeff Meunier.
The grounds were lovely, even on a drizzly day, as was the view...
But we especially enjoyed the musicians who sang a mix of blues and bluegrass.
Ashley drew them as they performed, as she is wont to do.
While the rest of us just sat back and relaxed. What a lovely way to spend a day. Good food, good wine, good friends!
