Get a Graduate Degree in Children's Books!

It's time to register for the Certificate in Children's Book Illustration, the MFA in Children's Book Writing and Illustrating, the Master of Arts in Children's Literature, or the Children's Literature MFA programs at Hollins University in the breathtaking Appalachian Mountains of Roanoke, Virginia.
The first degree program of its kind in the world, Hollins’ well-respected program offers multiple options in the study, writing, and illustration of literature for children. Books such as Goodnight Moon by Hollins alumna Margaret Wise Brown start us on our path in life, and the books that children are reading now will shape our future world.

Our newest degree offering, Children’s Book Writing and Illustrating, is a unique program bringing together the best of both disciplines. All programs share courses and top-notch faculty and writers-in-residence so that students in each degree path learn from and work with each other in a collaborative, supportive environment.
This year we welcome two new faculty to our programming. Caldecott-winner E.B. Lewis will be teaching our Media course; and Dhonielle Clayton, COO of #WeNeedDiverseBooks will be teaching our The Craft of Writing for Children course. Dr. Chip Sullivan returns with his course on Myth and Folktale—Scandinavian and Celtic Myth, and Dr. Claudia Mills returns to teach Advanced Creative Writing Tutorial. It's a spectacular line-up you won't want to miss!

If you're not ready for the full MFA in Writing and Illustrating, go for the Certificate, although, I bet you'll want to stick around for the full MFA!) Come join us in our 'wee bubble of elysium' - our happy place. You'll never want to leave!
