This is a fascinating talk about the birth of symbolic communication between humans in Europe. Genevieve von Petzinger and her husband rummages around in caves with artwork dating back to 4 to 10,000 BCE to find a pattern in the drawings, repeated images that appeared again and again that obviously meant some sort of common communication to the people who created them. It's the birth of communication, the birth of the icon, the birth of advertising - the birth of, well, how we get around in the world.
