It's Picture Book Month 2017!

November is Picture Book Month! As you know, I create the calendar for it each year. Each day features an author or illustrator with accompanying activities to share with the young readers in your life.
As you may not know, Picture Book Month tragically lost her founder, Dianne de Las Casas as a result of a house fire recently. To keep her legacy alive, fellow founders, Marcie Colleen, Joyce Wan, Katie Davis, Wendy Martin, and myself along with the help of programmer Zarah Gagatiga are keeping Picture Book Month going. We can't think of a better way to honor our friend.
So, this year, Picture Book Month kicks off with a letter, a tribute from the founders. I hope you'll have a read. But more importantly, I hope you'll use the resources we've provided all month long, to help celebrate our passion for reading and picture books! Dianne would be proud!

Dianne was indeed a force of nature. Meeting her at one conference after another, I found it impossible not to come together with hugs of titanic proportions. She simply swept one up in a glorious wave of enthusiasm.
