New Cross, London

Stan and I had reason to pop down to London this past weekend. It was an in and out trip, not enough time to even think about seeing the touristy spots. So, we decided to get to know the neighborhood we landed in instead - New Cross, South London.
This area of London is near a dipping curve of the Thames River at Telegraph Hill. It's a mix of cultures, old and new.
We caught it at just the right time as the Cherry Blossoms were in full bloom.
So were the tulips...

The area is very spread out, with pockets of lovely Victorian homes.

And hidden treasures...

Neighborhoods were defined by their markets. Like in Deptford where the fish stands were impressive, along with the fact that you could buy just about anything there.
There was also the Saturday market near our street, that sported gourmet food trucks, and...

Stan bought enough goods to make us dinner that evening in our sweet little Airbnb. More about that next...
