The Bloomsbury Introduction to Children's and Young Adult Literature

Each year at Hollins we have the pleasure of visiting and teaching scholars, academics who are at the very top of the Children's Literature field. As such, I've made friends with some very smart people, which I love!
Of those, Dr. Karen Coats of Illinois State University has got to be one of the smartest. So, I was thrilled when she asked me to write a contribution to her newest book, The Bloomsbury Introduction to Children's and Young Adult Literature. It's also my first official academic publishing credit! She asked me to write a 'Talkback' section on the process behind my novel, A Bird on Water Street. So I knew that would be in there.
What I wasn't expecting was that she would feature my book as suggested reading for one of the chapters.
And that she would include a lovely review of ABOWS (nickname). What an honor and a thrill!
The book is set up to be used in a classroom with activities and further study recommendations at the end of each chapter. If you're a teacher, I hope you'll have a look to see if our book will be a good fit for your curriculum!
